Breast augmentation is one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries in the world—and right here in Chicago. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), breast augmentation remains one of the most popular cosmetic surgical procedures in the United States. In 2023, there were 304,181 breast augmentation procedures performed, marking a 2% increase from the previous year.

But even though so many women choose to get breast implants, it’s totally normal to have questions before making a decision.

At Chicago Breast & Body Aesthetics, our top-rated cosmetic surgeons Dr. Anh-Tuan Truong and Dr. Pey-Yi Kevin Lin will walk you through everything, so you feel confident and informed about your breast enhancement journey.

Am I a good candidate for breast augmentation?

If you’ve ever felt unhappy with the size of your breasts or wished for a curvier shape, you might be a great candidate for breast implants. Many women also choose breast augmentation to fix uneven breasts or to restore volume lost after having kids or losing weight.

How do I choose the right breast implant size?

Everyone’s body is different, so the best size depends on your shape, your goals, and what you want your new look to be. Some women want a small, natural boost—others want a fuller, dramatic change. Bringing photos of your “dream results” can help your surgeon understand what you’re looking for.

Should I get saline or silicone implants?

Both are safe and FDA-approved. Silicone breast implants are the most popular because they often feel softer and more natural. But saline implants can be a great choice too, especially if you want a smaller incision. We’ll help you choose the best type based on your body and goals.

How long does breast augmentation surgery take?

The surgery usually takes 1 to 2 hours. It’s done at our accredited surgical center in Chicago, and you’ll go home the same day to recover comfortably.

What is recovery like after breast implants?

You’ll need to rest for a few days. Your breasts may feel sore, tight, or swollen. Most women feel well enough to return to work in about a week. Avoid heavy lifting or intense workouts for a few weeks to let your body heal properly.

Will there be scars?

Yes, but we make them as hidden as possible. Most scars are placed under the breast or around the edge of the nipple. Over time, they fade and become much less noticeable.

When will I see the final results?

At first, your breasts may sit high on the chest and feel firm. This is normal. Over a few months, your implants will settle into place and look more natural. Most women see their full results around 3 to 6 months after surgery.
