Wanting a different result after a BBL is not vanity, and it is not a failure on your part. Some patients asked for an athletic, natural shape and ended up with more than they wanted. Others watched volume fade, or noticed one side settling differently from the other. None of that means you made a bad decision about your body. It means your plan deserves a second, careful look.
What a BBL revision can address
A revision refines or corrects a previous Brazilian butt lift. Depending on your exam, your surgeon may recommend one of these or a combination:
Reducing volume where there is more than you wanted.
Moving fat to improve shape, or the balance between sides.
Adding fat where volume has faded, when you have enough donor fat left.
Smoothing uneven contour, on the buttocks or at the original liposuction sites.

What no one can promise before your exam
Here’s the thing about a revision: what’s possible depends on what your body has now. The fat left to harvest, the quality of your skin, and scar tissue from your first surgery all shape the plan. Scar tissue can make a revision more complex than a first BBL. Some changes may not be possible, and you should hear that at your exam, not after surgery.
If your first BBL was recent, your surgeon will tell you when your tissues have settled enough to plan a revision.

Safety first, especially the second time
A second fat transfer calls for more caution, not less. Every procedure is performed in our AAAHC-accredited surgical facility, and our surgeons and clinical staff follow strict safety protocols with zero surgical deaths.
The most serious BBL complication, fat embolism, is exceedingly rare and is minimized by keeping fat out of the muscle. Dr. Truong and Dr. Lin use real-time ultrasound during fat transfer to confirm the cannula stays in the fat layer above the gluteal muscle, and they use blunt cannulas. That is the subcutaneous-only standard set by the Multi-Society Task Force for Safety in Gluteal Fat Grafting, whose later advisory supports ultrasound guidance.
Every surgery carries some risk, including bruising, swelling, contour irregularities, infection, and blood clots. We go through each one with you in person.

What recovery looks like
A revision usually follows a recovery similar to a first BBL, and your plan may differ depending on what is done.
Day 1
You are up and walking.

Most patients plan this long off work.

Exercise can typically resume, with your surgeon’s clearance.
Weeks 4 to 6
Wear your compression garment for at least 4 weeks. If fat is added, avoid sitting directly on it for 4 to 6 weeks.

Your surgeon will tell you once your tissues have settled enough to plan one. Swelling after a BBL can take months to resolve, so revisions are planned around a settled result.
Can every BBL be revised?
No. What is possible depends on your remaining donor fat, your skin, and scar tissue from your first surgery. Your surgeon will tell you at your exam what a revision can and can’t change.
Can you add volume if my fat didn’t last?
It may be possible if you have enough donor fat left to harvest. Your surgeon assesses that at your exam.
Can you make my BBL smaller?
Yes. That is a BBL reduction, which starts at $7,995 and up.
Do I need records from my first surgery?
They help but are not required. Your operative report and photos show what was done, which helps your surgeon plan.
How much does a BBL revision cost?

Is a revision riskier than a first BBL?
