BMI (Body Mass Index) Calculator
Your Body Mass Index (BMI) is used to help determine if you are a good candidate for an elective plastic surgery procedure. Calculating your BMI can help you gauge areas of your health you may need to work on prior to pursuing cosmetic surgery. Most body sculpting procedures such as Brazilian Butt Lift, Tummy Tuck or Liposuction require a maximum BMI of 30 or below. Facial surgery or vaginal rejuvenation may allow a higher BMI.
If your BMI is too high, surgical risks and complications may arise, including problems with wound healing, infections, or fluids settling. Maintaining a stable, healthy weight can dramatically decrease any potential problems that may arise during or after plastic surgery. The chart below can be used to compare your BMI to your ideal based on your height and weight.
- Underweight 18.49: You should consult with a board-certified cosmetic surgeon to determine if you are a candidate for a procedure.
- Normal Range 18.5 to 24.9: If your BMI falls in the “normal” category, you may be a good candidate for most procedures.
- Overweight Range 25 to 29.9: You should consult with a board-certified cosmetic surgeon to determine if you are a candidate for a procedure.
- Obese BMI Above 30: If your BMI is calculated in the “obese” range, it is recommended that you bring your BMI to a healthier category before pursuing a cosmetic procedure.
